NEW EVENT - ACWS Costa Mesa, CA Reenactment - May 9-10, 2009
My fellow Union Reenactors -

The email below provides some very limited information about a NEW ACWS event.  This is the second new event that I have had the pleasure to announce to you in the last two weeks.

In addition to what is provided below, here are some particulars:

What: A NEW Civil War Battle event (two battles on Saturday and two battles on Sunday). Camping on grass, some flush toilets, and close enough to the beach to provide fair weather.

Where:  Fairview Park in Costa Mesa at 2501 Placentia Avenue  Costa Mesa, CA

When: May 9 and 10, 2009

How: Take your favorite freeway to Interstate Route 405.  Get off on Harbor Boulevard and go south (toward the beach).  When you get to Adams Avenue go west ( make a right turn).  When you get to Placentia Avenue go south again (make a left turn). Fairview Park is on the right side of the street, and the parking is further south in the nearby High School Parking lot.

As always we need to know if you are attending.  Please reply with your attendance intentions before April 30, 2009.  Folks have been asking for an event closer to this part of town, and your wish has now been filled.  This
promises to be a great event, and a lot of fun.

CANCELLED Event - Acton Reeactment

Hi everyone,

Due to funding we have lost this great event. It is usually our Max Effort event as many of our members who have gone off to college can usually make it back in time to participate.

Please consider comming out to Barstow, CA for the day on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday and helping David Crichton with the encampment there.

Utah JrROTC Program in Las Vegas, NV - April 11, 2008

Fellow members of the 71st,

At our April 11th 2008 Company Drill in Las Vegas, NV we have had a slight double booking of our program. In addition to providing trainking for some new recruits to the 71st, Sean Wells will also be there with his Mountain Howitzer for a go at Artillery Drill. Everyone please make sure you take a moment to welcome Mike and Shawn Bedwell.

Anyhow, we will have 50 JrROTC students down at the Old Las Vegas Fort. So it is a great oppurtunity to come on down and have garunteed contact/audiance.

NEW EVENT - ACWS Blythe, CA Reenactment - April 18-19, 2008

NEW EVENT     The ACWS is planning the BATTLE OF BLYTHE on April 18-19, 2009 to soften the blow of the cancellation of the Battle of Yuma Crossing.  This event has the full cooperation of the City of Blythe and is to be held in Quesan Park near the Colorado River .  They promise more green grass and there is quite a few trees to soften the desert sun!   We have paid slots for three cannons per side and plenty of room for infantry and cavalry.

Period vendors will be on site for food.

Please accept our apologies for the short notice on this event but we did want to have something on the Yuma Crossing date.   Please help us advertise this event to your units and encourage them to support Blythe.   This will turn out to be a very nice event with our out of State brother reenactors and our easternmost members.

We have been working on this since November of last year and the selling point was the fantastic job you all did at Calico. They sent a survey party to Calico and were amazed at what the ACWS members do there.

We will have details in the near future, as you can imagine we are still negotiating some items.
Quesan Park is North of the 10 Fwy and can be reached at the last exit in California .  If you are driving East on the 10 and notice "Welcome to Arizona " signs, back up!
